Flag of Dutch Huguenot Infantry Regiment Viçouse in the War of the Spanish Succession

This is from the details in Hall, Stanford and Roumegoux's book on the Dutch Army 1685-1715, where they cite unverified information from August Kühn on the general design of the Huguenot regimental flags and give their own tentative reconstruction. I have already presented my version of the flag of Dutch Huguenot Regiment Lislemarais.

First raised 1701. One battalion strong.

Service:

1702-1703 In Flanders
1703-1704 In Portugal 10 companies strong
1704 Siege of Barcelona
1705-1706 On campaign in Spain and Portugal
1707 Battle of Almanza where it was captured
1708-1709 Back campaigning in Spain
1709-1712 In Flanders
1712 Siege of Quesnoy

And this was probably the uniform 1709-1720:

  2. I love the simplicity of the core background design, with those lovely details lifting the overall design no end:).

    1. Thank you, Steve. :-) Yes, I agree; it's like the basic French design with the lion and scroll on top. Perhaps it derives from the Huguenot's French origins? We don't exactly know as the source of the information is unknown...

      All the best,

      David.
