The improved hussar template drew so few votes in the previous poll that I was rather wondering what people might actually like done after the Russian infantry. I make no promises that I will actually do what people request (that way madness really does lie! ;-)) but I will take serious note of popular options. So - start suggesting! :-) (And no, I don't really feel like branching out into civilians at the moment, before anyone mentions it...)

After the Russians...

You do know, of course, what the Stagonians want.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone else wants French?
-- Jeff
I rather hope not; being seen drawing a French template in a Tippelbruder on the verge of war with Stagonia would make one, shall we say, a little unpopular. ;-)
ReplyDeleteDavid.
Oh - and yes, this posting *is* partly a scam for getting some more feedback, as despite the hundreds of people who view the blog very, very few give any response at all - which, to say the least, can be somewhat dispiriting. Take the highlanders, for instance; despite a fair number of people wanting them, only one has commented on them so far. "Feedback is the currency in which bloggers are paid!", as they might say in 21st century Tippelbruder.

Hello David,
ReplyDeleteHow about uniform templates for some of the mounted musicians? For example, there is a discussion about the uniforms of SYW hussar trumpeters going on right now over at the Old School Wargamng Yahoo group. Barring that, how about a uniform template for dragoons or cuirassiers? Or horse grenadiers? Just a few ideas to consider.
Enjoy the weekend,
Stokes Schwartz
The trumpeters, I mean.
ReplyDeleteBest Regards,
Stokes
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I'll certainly think about musicians but a) they will be rather time-consuming to draw because of all the braid and decoration, b) as in the case of Austrian hussar trumpeters the evidence is often rather scanty and c) there are a lot of basic troops of many countries still to do and little enough time to do them! But I will definitely bear it in mind. If there is a *lot* of demand for musicians then perhaps it will happen sooner rather than later though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good weekend too.
David.
Hi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteSorry if that comment about the French uniforms seemed a bit harsh and dismissive; I didn't intend it to be so. I will get round to more French uniforms eventually but I must confess to a certain aversion to them (not entirely caused by being nearly at war with Stagonia!). On the whole the French uniforms are very messy and baggy and rather ugly, I feel. Let's see if we get a lot of demand for them, though, and if so I'll knuckle down to some despite the reservations. ;-)
Now if King Maurice were to make a formal public apology for his nasty public announcements about Tippelbruder and promise not to attack Tippelbruder and its allies now and for the foreseeable future, that would make a difference! ;-) Isn't a few words for some nice new uniforms a fair exchange?
David.
DAvid,
ReplyDeleteThe uniforms of the French Infantry look lovely of worn with flair!
One vote from me.
Greg
Righty ho, Greg. That's 2 votes for the French duly noted! :-)
