7th Reichsarmee Template - Grenadier of the Kurbayern Infantry Regiment (Bavarian Circle)

Although some sources suggest the Bavarian grenadiers had plates on their fur caps in the mid-18th century, Martin Lange in Pengel and Hurt's Bavaria, Saxony and Palatinate Supplement argues convincingly that the primary evidence shows they did not. He also argues that all grenadiers had red bags on the cap, with piping in the button colour, and that the bags were therefore not in the uniform facing colour.

  2. David,

I know you mentioned it somewhere, but can't find it.

What is your intent as far as colored versions of your historical templates? For example, if someone sent you, say, all the Brunswick regiments in historical colors, is that something you want?

Is it something you want to collaborate on?

    Just curious...

  3. Hi Ed,

I did and still do plan to do some coloured-in templates but haven't had the time or energy to organise it yet. I suspect it would probably work better as a separate blog from this one, aimed at those wanting purely historical data. Yes, I would be very happy to collaborate on it! :-) We'll have to discuss it further.

    Thanks.

    David.

  5. Hi Ed,

I've replied to your questions at your blog; hope my answers help.

What thoughts/ideas do you have for further development of coloured-in templates?

    David.

  6. I was just thinking, based on your last few templates, that as you do specific units, someone like myself could go ahead and provide a colored version. Units like Kurbayern and Mainz are (relatively) easy to color. It would not be so easy to do all the Austrian German musketeers at once.

However, as they are colored in, they would make an impressive repository...as you said, perhaps another blog?

  7. David,

I have finished coloring all four plates for Kurbayern (Holnstein musketeer and grenadier, Pechmann musketeer and grenadier). I am willing to set up a new blog if you like, but would like to email you this first set for confirmation.

Can you drop me an email at ed_youngstrom at Yahoo dot com?

    Thanks,
    Ed
