12 French Infantry Flag Templates


Here are 12 French infantry flag templates, from the very basic to rather more complex. More to follow, hopefully, some time next week.

The blank templates are zipped up as one package here: http://www.woodward.toucansurf.com/SYW/FrenchInfantryFlagsSYWTemp%5blatesDM.zip as I didn't want to mess about doing one post here for each one.

This thumbnail image gives an idea of what can be done; these represent authentic French infantry flags (even if we cannot always be sure of the exact shades of the colours used!). A few are flags which went out of use in 1749 but they seemed to me too attractive to reject because of that sad little fact. :-)

    Had you any particular German flags in mind? (No doubt you've seen the Prussian-style flags I posted some time ago.)

    Could you tell me the web hosting site to use which is the same as yours? Most of them ones I've hit on are rather messy to use. I like your one which gives you the file as soon as you click the link.

    I'm afraid it's just the webspace I get with my ISP, Toucan. I use it for the SYW template files as I don't use it for anything else at the moment; it's only 25MBs so I need to keep an eye on it as it fills up.

    Your flags are amazing! I'd really like to see talent turned loose on the Brunswick flags. The army was relatively small and perfect for wargaming with large scale figures. Thanks for all your efforts...Bill

    Thanks for the kind comments. I'd be more than happy to do some Brunswick flags but my own materials don't include any good visual material. I have various Pengel and Hurts but none gives very much information on Brunswick flags. Do you have good images you could send me? If so, I'd be able to do some flags. Let me know and I can let you have my email address for you to send me the material. Thanks.

    Actually, Captain Bill, there are some Brunswick infantry flags at the Kronoskaf SYW site here: http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Brunswick_Army

    Would you be able to use those with a bit of fudging in a Paint-style program to flip and produce the other side? It would save me a big job! :-)
