Being a uniform and flag design service to wargamers and to the imaginary crowned heads of 17th and 18th Century Europe, especially of the Seven Years War period - now By Appointment to the Court of Saxe-Bearstein! (But please note that the uniforms and flags presented here are not fictional - they are genuine 17th and 18th Century uniforms and flags that are as authentic as I can make them from my sources.)

British Ranger Officer 1750s
This is a somewhat speculative uniform, based on an illustration by G A Embleton, but is probably close to the sort of uniform British ranger officers wore, at least at the beginning of the campaign before they ended up in rags or stolen civilian or military items like everyone else.
David - I'll definitely be downloading this uniform and addin my own colour scheme. It fits in nicely with a design I require for one of my "Imagi-nation" countries.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much,
Steve.
Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it will be useful to you! Thanks.
Will you be posting more of your ImagiNations' uniforms on your blog?
Cheers,
David.
Probably David, but all the "imagi-nation" uniforms are saved in a database on the hard disk of another computer at present.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have already decided on the colour scheme for the Ranger Officer: Brown Coat & Breeches with red facings (lapels, collar & cuffs) and silver lace. Nothing too extreme, though, I had thought about giving him a dark blue coat at first, but then after a little consideration...
Oh, and I've added an extra button to the cuff (just something I felt like doing)
This uniform will take it's place in my Baltavian "Imagi-nation" army as "Colburn's Ranger battalion" (or maybe "Colburn's battalion of Light Infantry") but I haven't fully decided as yet. And they will carry NO colours because I see them as an irregular unit.
Steve
Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing them if you can put them on your blog.
Thanks for the detail. The colours you mention sound rather like those of the 80th Light Infantry who served in North America in the SYW. It's an unusual combination of colours and should look good. :-)
Cheers,
David.
Sir David, Makes me wish I had some British ranges...
ReplyDeleteHi Bill,
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it and thanks for commenting. You'll have to start a colony in North America! ;-)
All the best,
David.
