Some Seasonal Silliness: The guidon of Santa's Own Light Cavalry

This is a British-style light cavalry guidon for Santa's Own Light Cavalry:

And I added a British heavy cavalry-style standard of Santa's Heavies to my long-neglected Tippelbruder blog here: http://freistadttippelbruder.blogspot.com/2021/12/one-more-bit-of-seasonal-silliness.html

  4. It may be silly but it is still very good! Now if I could only find some reindeer to make a light cavalry unit... ;)

  5. Thanks, Jon. :-) I'm still fond of the ImagiNations approach...

    All the best,

    David.

  6. Thanks, Steve. :-) Your wish is my command; I gather these are about the best in 28mm: https://company-b-models-and-miniatures.myshopify.com/products/game-miniatures-reindeer-herd?_pos=2&_sid=71977fa78&_ss=r :-)

    All the best,

  7. Thanks for the link David, which will prove useful if and when I try to convert some cavalry in 10mm into reindeer, which I'm very tempted to do!

  8. An other fantastic guidon David, just crying out for a hussar regiment painted red, white and green.

  9. Love it. Every year I say I'm going to do something Christmas themed and never do - well, apart from painting up one unit of Persian cavalry in green and red!

  10. David,

How wonderfully whimsical! I like it a lot, and hope it will become a holiday tradition. After all, the elves, the snowmen, and gingerbread are all clamoring for their own standards.

Happy Holidays, David. Thank you for all the marvelous talent you shared with us over the year. People like you represent the very best of our hobby.

  13. Thanks, Rob. :-) I'm often at a loss for something special to do for Xmas and this does seem like a rather fun approach to take.

    All the best,

    David.

  14. Thanks, Bill. :-) Yes, I think I'd like to continue this and make it a new NBA tradition, as you suggest. Great idea!

And thanks for your enthusiasm. Your responses and those of everyone else who comments keep me going with all this!

    All the best,

    David.

  16. "An other fantastic guidon David, just crying out for a hussar regiment painted red, white and green." you commission it Willz and I'll paint it - preferably Hussarettes!
David -Love the genuine Latin inscription, my favourite would be "Santa venio est"
    Happy New Year Chris G

    All the best,

    David.

  18. Thanks, Chris. :-) I've just posted the standard of Santa's Heavies on the Tippelbruder blog page with a Latin motto I invented.

    Happy New Year too.

    All the best,

    David.

  20. Thanks, Chris. :-) I suspect after his one night dash round the entire planet he might like lying around for much of the rest of the year... (Like the rest of us he's not getting any younger.) ;-)

    All the best,

    David.

  21. Fabulous work on that guidon. I for one heartily encourage the continuation of this into a yearly tradition as it's something I've been doing since 2013 now with my purely decorative Army of Advent...

Best wishes for the New Year

  22. Thank you, Marvin. :-) That's a great blog you have and I must explore it further. Your troops look terrific! I will indeed continue this seasonal flag-making as a tradition. I posted the standard of Santa's Heavies on my other, long-neglected, ImagiNations blog - you can find it here: http://freistadttippelbruder.blogspot.com/2021/12/one-more-bit-of-seasonal-silliness.html

    All the best,

    David.
