This is another flag which I have recreated from the flag as depicted in the Triomphes de Louis XV, the contemporary source showing flags captured by the French armies in the 1740s. The flag at the top is as depicted in the Triomphes, which seems rather unfinished to me, with the large gap above the eagle making the composition seem very unbalanced. So I have added an Austrian crown and ribbons above the eagle in the second flag down, as well as in the possible Leibfahne design at the bottom.
Nice work Sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ray! :-) Still some more to come of these Austrian flags...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
My WAS Austrians are really going to be spoiled for choice now. Thank you David.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lee! :-) I'm really looking forward to seeing some in action with your troops. And there are still more to come...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
Another triumph, David! I really must get to those Austrians soon.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes
Wonderful work, David. These are beautiful flags with vivid colors and impressive detail.
ReplyDeleteAs always, very much appreciated.
Bill
Nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stokes! :-) I'm really looking forward to seeing some in action with your troops. :-)
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
Thank you, Bill! :-) Yes, I like these flags too; it's good to do something a bit different from the usual. I'm glad I still have a number left to do as well...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
Thank you, Jon. :-) Some of the remaining Austrian WAS flags are very elaborate so exciting things to come yet...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
Lovely work any chance of Prussian cavalry standards?
ReplyDeleteMore wonderful flags David, thank you once again.
ReplyDeleteWillz.
Thanks, Willz. :-) Some really elaborate Austrian WAS flags on the way soon but they do involve a lot of work...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
Thanks, Frostydog. :-) I have posted the standards of Prussian cuirassier regiment No.1 so far and plan/hope to do more - but they are a lot of work, especially considering how small they will appear on the battlefield. I tend to concentrate on infantry flags as they take less time and effort for more impressive appearance on the battlefield. As no-one is paying me for this work I tend to go where I feel the effort is most justified by the results...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
David.
More of the excellent stuff. The Green is very dark indeed. But I love it. It's a shame, that I don't have further projects for my Austrian army. It's just too dificult to change flags on the 1/72 minis.
ReplyDeleteThanks, André. :-) Yes, these are attractive flags, aren't they? Glad you like it. A pity about the difficulty of changing the flags on your 1/72 troops and that you'll not be raising any more Austrian regiments. Perhaps one day...
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
David.
