New - Austrian (German) Line Infantry Template

Not a Grenzer this time, as it involves too much original work (and I haven't much time at the moment) but instead a template of an Austrian German line infantryman, which I know certain people will find useful. The Hungarian-style uniform will probably be next, as it involves less original work, followed finally by the Grenzer uniform - unless Jeff of Saxe-Bearstein's ragged horse and dragoons besiege the shop in Tippelbruder demanding new uniforms in which case I may have to rethink... ;-)

  2. Another great template David! Do you draw these by hand? Might you post a Prussian template at some point?

    Best Regards,

  3. Hi Stokes,

    Glad you like it! :-)

I use 19th century uniform plates to help give me a basic shape, which I draw in a vector art program, then I can modify and tweak as I need. A basic uniform like this can be modified fairly easily for a variety of nations - very handy that the infantry coat was so similar throughout Europe at this period! What is time-consuming is getting the initial template drawn - hence heavy cavalry will take a little while until I have time to do theirs. And yes, I will do Prussian-style uniforms sometime soon!

  4. *grins* I'm looking forward to the Prussian-style ones coming out. Now the really interesting one will be when you get to the Highlanders :>

  5. Why is everyone so obsessed with highlanders? Most curious. I'll just torture everyone, then, and do them last - or just keep on putting off doing them... [sadistic smile]

  6. For your information, the Principality of Saxe-Bearstein has no "highland" units in its army.

It does have some Grenzers, as well as Cavalry, Dragoons and even a few Jagers . . . but not a single highlander . . . *sigh* . . . more's the pity . . . no, not a single one.

David, do not allow the clamoring for this uniform or that uniform to rush you. Furst Bruno von Ursa prefers that you do not exhaust your talents by stressing them unduly.

  7. Thanks, Jeff, will do. It is difficult to tell people they will have to wait but as my grandmother used to say, "If it's good, it's worth waiting for". ;-)

As you will see from my latest post, problems do come from haste and tiredness!

    David.

  8. I am going through and downloading the templates so I can peruse them at leisure and match templates to units.

Saxe-Urquhart of the Soweiter League will be interested in Highlander templates, at your convenience of course.

Many thanks, a case of Bordelleaux red and a case each of Donnybrook ale and Donnybrook root beer for your illustrious efforts!

  9. Aaaarghh - I'm being plagued by those highlanders again! ;-) I'll have to drown my sorrows in the wine and ale and beer - thanks for those. :-) I look forward to seeing what you do with the templates... Let me know when you post them.

    David.
