Minden French Flags Project - Regiment Champagne

First raised 1558 and counted as one of the Petits Vieux regiments. This was a four battalion regiment so was the only unit in the Champagne Brigade. The regiment was at Hastenbeck, Krefeld, Bergen, Minden, Langensalza and Wilhelmstahl. At Minden it was in the first line of the left wing infantry.

The flags were unchanged from 1569 to 1791.

And this plate shows the uniform and flags in 1757:

  1. You probably already know this series of (rather naive) series of colored plates?

  2. Hi Jean-Louis,

Thank you, yes. They're a little late for the SYW but still useful. :-)

    Cheers,

    David.

  4. David- Yet another cool flag. One would have thought that a flag from Champagne would be a bit more... effervescent?

I am sure you have answered this numerous times, but where doyour fantastic unit images come from? Is it just one awesome tome?

    Regards,
    Thomas
