  1. Hello there David,

Glad to see you returned to the fold. ;-) Prussian flags are my absolute favorites. Your latest flags -- the garrison regiments -- are a great addition to your work online. Where did you find your information on these flags? I'd like to know more about colors and such. . . before messing with it to "stollenize" things a bit!

    Best Regards,

    Stokes

  2. Thanks, Stokes. :-)

The best printed source is Hans Bleckwenn's 4 volume "Die friderizianischen Uniformen", for Prussian uniforms and colours 1753-86. The Pengel and Hurt volumes are also good, as are the Dorn and Engelmann volumes on the Prussian army. The Osprey Prussian army volumes illustrate relatively few of the flags but have good written summaries.

Online, the Kronoskaf site http://www.kronoskaf.com/syw/index.php?title=Main_Page is very useful, although they are still working through the Prussian army and do not have the whole army in detail yet. The Kronoskaf links page has some useful links; an especially good one is Ioannis Mavromichalis' site http://leuthenjournal.com/ with good links to various SYW and other 18th century sites. Warflag is also very useful for flags.

Hope that's helpful for starters, anyway! If you'd like more information on flags direct, I can email you some material. Let me know.

    All the best,

    David.

  3. Thanks David,

That's great! I'll have a look around and rattle your cage when I need more stuff. Sure appreciate it.

    Best Regards,

    Stokes

    P.S.
Your latest French heavy cavalry uniform is lovely too.

  4. Hi Stokes,

I'm glad that's useful. Let me know if you'd like me to email some pictorial material to you too.

:-) Thanks. Yes, I've always rather liked that Royal Pologne uniform - very Napoleonic, I think (shades of the Horse Grenadiers). I'm now working on the Curassiers Du Roi uniform but it's a slow job; it's very fiddly getting the cuirass shape and fittings right.

Thanks again for the positive feedback; it really does help!

    All the best,

    David.
