Colonel's flag of Dutch Infantry Regiment Aylva (Probably 1690s) According to Robert Hall

Although he does not show an illustration of it and quotes no source, Robert Hall describes this Colonel's flag for Dutch Infantry Regiment Aylva. My other post on the regiment can be found here, for service details etc.: https://nba-sywtemplates.blogspot.com/2024/10/flags-and-uniform-dutch-infantry.html

    1. Thank you, Donnie. It is fairly simple but that is not always a disadvantage! :-)

      All the best,

      David.

  2. Lovely and simple there and I always think 'Swedish' when seeing blue and yellow together, especially with the 'lion rampant' (?).

    1. Thank you, Steve. Yes, I agree; and perhaps one day I'll manage to embark on Swedish flags of the period! They are on my now immense To Do list... :-)

      All the best,

      David.

    1. Thank you, Ray. Simpler flags do often offer a good contrast with the more elaborate examples. :-)

      All the best,

      David.

    2. Thank you, Willz. Not just because they are easier to do, I often feel that simpler can mean more elegant and appealing too! :-)

      All the best,

      David.
