Yes, this is sadly yet another blue regimental flag - but this time we have a regiment that had a very busy Seven Years War. It was at the capture of Guadeloupe in 1759 then in Germany at the battle of Warburg 1760, with its grenadiers at Klostercamp the same year. In 1761 it was at Vellinghausen plus numerous smaller engagements. In 1762 it was at Wlihelmstahl. The motto Nec Aspera Terrent is often depicted on the regimental colours for this period but, as Milne in his book Standards and Colours of the Army 1661-1881 explains, it was not officially authorised until 1840 when it first appeared on the regimental colours.
Nicely done and even though yet another blue flag, it does allow those with other colours to shine as it were:).

Excellent as always! Do you have any plans for the other Germany regiments; 5th, 11th, 12th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 33rd, 37th, 50th, 51st, 87th & 88th?

DeleteThank you! Glad you like them. :-) The 5th and 23rd were also special badge regiments so yes, they will be done fairly soon. The others need me to create the generic wreath which I also plan to do, although I do not yet have as clear and detailed a reference image as I would like to produce a decent version.
DeleteExcellent! Just remember when you come to do the 87th and 88th Highlanders; the 87th DEFINITELY had green facings and there are a couple of portraits confirming this.
DeleteNobody really knows what the 88th had, but buff is highly likely and from an aesthetic point of view, then contrasts with the green of the 87th. Kronoskaf show the 87th with buff and the 88th with green...
I'll bear that in mind, of course - although it may well be a while before I get to the 87th and 88th Regiments! :-)
