Being a uniform and flag design service to wargamers and to the imaginary crowned heads of 17th and 18th Century Europe, especially of the Seven Years War period - now By Appointment to the Court of Saxe-Bearstein! (But please note that the uniforms and flags presented here are not fictional - they are genuine 17th and 18th Century uniforms and flags that are as authentic as I can make them from my sources.)
These are famous flags, probably captured at Ramillies in 1706, and which may have belonged to the Leibregiment zu Fuss. (Anna Beek claims they were captured at Eckeren in 1703 but her attributions are often wrong.)
The Leibregiment had blue coats with red cuffs and linings.

Lovely flags and again, that chequer board pattern is great, with the blue and white just so Bavarian to me:).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve. :-) Yes, I'm sure the connection is intentional as Josef Clemens, Elector of Cologne, was the brother of the Bavarian Elector Max Emmanuel. (I still do have more Bavarian flags to create too...)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Ray. :-) One bizarre thing is that back in 2012 I did create two cavalry standards for Cologne but I cannot now find any evidence that the designs I used are authentic! Very odd... So they may never find themselves on the blog, which is a pity.
